Suffolk Filing Fee
The total fee to record a homestead deed of 10 pages or fewer in Suffolk is currently $26 — combining the base state recording fee (Va. Code § 17.1-275, $18), the statewide Technology Trust Fund fee (Va. Code § 17.1-279, $5), and Suffolk’s local recording fee. Longer documents cost more. Before You File in Suffolk
Suffolk’s Clerk’s Office keeps slightly longer hours than most Hampton Roads courts, staying open until 5 p.m., but the recording register itself closes earlier, at 4:30 p.m. Any deed or instrument affecting real property must be filed with a cover sheet detailing the information the clerk needs to index it correctly.
